Professor Semra Ulusoy Kaymak was born in 1975 in Ankara – İlyakut. She completed primary, secondary, and high school in Ankara, and in 1992 started training as a physician in the Ankara University School of Medicine.

Between 2000 – 2006 she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Psychiatry in the Hacettepe University School of Medicine, and became a specialist physician in the field of Psychiatry. She was an observer at the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology in Ghent University in 2006. She subsequently worked at the Ministry of Health Ankara Oncological Training and Research Hospital department of psychiatry, and between 2013 – 2017 at the Ministry of Health Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital department of psychiatry, as chief resident and training supervisor. She became an Associate Professor in 2012. She completed various training programs in the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as a program organized between 2011 – 2014 by the Turkish Psychiatry Association, and qualified to receive the title of “Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy Practitioner and Trainer”. As a continuation of this program, she assumed an active role in the delivery of local psychotherapy trainings in all geographical regions of Türkiye. She has predominantly worked at and supervised units specializing in the field of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.

She is married and has one child.
